Blue win for Veterans Cup

In a surprise win on Sunday, Tamworth Blue defeated Tamworth Gold in the War Veterans Cup at No 1 Oval in Tamworth.
Blue demolished the Gold line up, getting the side all out for 107, with the only double figure scores coming from opener Adam Cole (41) and Mitch Holt (20). The Blue bowlers were on fire with Aaron Hazelwood topping the dismissals with four out for 16 runs, with Greg Kellett a close second with three out for 13 runs.
There were plenty of big hitters when Blue came out to bat and the batsmen smashed through a victory within five overs, with only 3-108. Stand-in skipper Nick Pearson opened with 30 runs, including two fours and a six. Simon Norvill went in hard, smashing 14 runs in two overs including two sixes and finishing with a total of 19 runs. Kris Halloran continued with the big ones, scoring a six and four fours in his innings for a total of 36 not out.
